Comparison of counter-attacks | Sweden-Finland U19 WFC 2025

The performance (and the results) of the Swedish men's U19 national team has been a big point of discussion, since the team has struggled to get results in EFT:s and now also in the WFC in Switzerland.

After getting a draw against the host nation Switzerland in the group stage, the semifinal against Finland was the second test in the WFC against a top 4 nation. Finland ended up winning the game decisively with 9-3, and Sweden was eliminated.

These are young terrific athletes and floorball players – all of them. I am therefore not going to talk about individual performances or anything like that. But since a lot of the talking points after the WFC and this match in particular was about counter-attacks, I am going to use the game and its events as a discussion point for interesting tactical things and some decision making patterns about counter-attacks.
