Goalies initiate transition plays | 2-on-2

In this two-on-two activation drill, we use the entire length and width of the court. After a shot, the goalie will initiate the counter-attack more often than not, since that is the source of new balls. Either through saving a shot and starting with that ball, or picking a new ball up from the top of the net. However players can also get passes from their own team, if they manage to win the ball during the defending of the rush. You will see both ways of initiating the counter-attack in the example below.

As you see from the drill film below, there are no rules in terms of starting positions for the two players about to go on the offense. They of course cannot just run away as far away from the own net as possible, since they will need to recieve the initiating pass from the goalie or from a defender winning it.
