Pre-shot movement work | Multiple drills
Here two drills are combined, where the first one has pre-defined routes for the players to take, while the other one lets the creativity loose, and players can run their own routes to create scoring chances.
The main thing about these drills, is to increase the xG-value (expected goals - the assumed chance of the ball acatually going in) by adding pre-shot movement. A short east-west pass can increase the chance by a lot!
In the first drill, the routes are pre-determined.
Drill 1 | Fixed movement
...but in the second one, players choose themselves how to run, and also who of the active players (passers/shooters in fix position also included) will take the shot.
Drill 2 | Free to choose how to run and who shoots
And this is how it looks in real life.
Rotation in the drill
Players just change lines in the corners.
Fix passers/shooters get changed after a little while.
Target areas of progress
- Shooting skills
- Decision making
- Understanding what drives expected goals in shot situations
