🛑 Stopping Skilled Teams by Defending an Area Smaller than the Court Itself
We have of course all been there. Trying to prepare our team for a battle against an on paper superior team. It is a great challenge for a coach and a team, and there is nothing better than coming up with a smart plan and executing it together.
It is tough to not think about that kind of situation, when looking at what if facing Växjö in the men's SSL playoffs. They are about to enter a playoff series against Storvreta, after losing all three games against them in a very clear fashion.
What can they do? My first thing would be trying to defend an area that is smaller than the actual court.
How does that work? That is what we are looking at today.
I have looked at game tape from Växjö's elimination game where they beat Kalmarsund to head into the semifinals, but I have also checked back at their previous meetings with Storvreta this season. Let us look at game tape, and try to figure out what will be the most interesting things to watch during this series, and how you can use these things when facing superior opponents. 👇
