Storvreta Punishing Falun for Inconsistencies on Defense
Storvreta once again won a tight title game against Falun. Here on xProgress, we highlighted three keys for each team before the SSL final game. And without baning my own drum too much, I have to say that one of them proved totally decisive in this game - and that was the inconcistencies in Falun's defensive system, especially on their right side. But more on that later. Let us start by looking at who deserved the win from a numbers perspective.
🔢 | What did the numbers say?
Five-on-five, the numbers had Storvreta as the team which deserved the win, but not by a huge margain.

It was once again a pretty slow game in terms of shot numbers and pace, with the scoring chances leaning to Storvreta's side. More chances off of high and mid-high danger shots for them, also giving them an edge on expected goals.
I do not think the numbers are particularily interesting in this game, but the game film for sure is! Because the consistency (or inconsistency) with which the teams defended, to me decided this game.
Let us have a look at how the keys we defined before this game, influenced the outcome. 👇
Falun not able to win enough battles down low or push the pace in transition
🗝️ A look at how Falun did not manage to execute their key factors
Before the game, we had the following three key's to a potential Falun win.
- Using their strong target forwards to win one-vs-one battles down low to create situations on offense
- Pushing the pace on second wave offensive transition, to attack against an unorganized Storvreta defense
- PP
Let us have a look at how these keypoints turne out, but also look at how Falun attacked with a fourth player to try and shake up Storvreta, and how Storvreta responded. 👇
