The Finnish rollercoaster

The Finnish rollercoaster

The season is not entirely over. Finland is playing their final games in a best of seven series, and Oilers and Classic are battling it out in a long series.

Game 6 just got played, and game 7 is waiting on Saturday. In this sixth, Classic beat Oilers 10-3. But hey, do not stop read just because you know the result. There is lots to uncover.

I decided to have a closer look at this game 6. A highly entertaining game, pretty far away from the more tightly played SSL men's final between Storvreta and Falun. Though – comparing a seven game series to one game is of course comparing apples to pears.

I think these kind of high event games are double edged swords. I really appreciate it as a spectator, and I love the fact that the players and coaches are faced with a ton of decisions. Then again, I can also appreciate the slower chess matches and the structure that meets the eye.

This spring, we for sure got both.

I am going to use the sixth game in the Finnish final series to touch the subject of coaching and in-game adjustments, and also look at the tactical and analytical stuff that was front and center in a game with two enormously different faces.
