What Växjö Did to Slow Down Storvreta | Game 1
The story of how the Storvreta vs Växjö games in the regular season and the Swedish cup have gone down this season, is obviously already told.
In particular, the first period of the Swedish cup final was one of the most lopsided floorball games at a high level, that I have ever seen. Let us remeber the five-on-five numbers (all game phases) from that first period. 👇

Now, this is the past, let us start looking forward instead.
The other day, we at xProgress looked at what Växjö could potentially do, to try and defend Storvreta better - by shrinking the size of the area they are defending.
Now it is of course really interesting to see how the first playoff game of the semifinal series between the teams looked. And since the first period of the Swedish cup was such a disaster for Växjö, let us look at the first period of this first semifinal game.
I will specifically look at two game phases. Växjö defending zone entries and defending their own zone.
First Period
If Växjö came in wanting to slow down Storvreta, they for sure did a good job in the first period. Look at these numbers.

When Växjö was defending Storvreta's zone entries, and defending in their own zone - almost nothing happened. And the scoring chance that actually occured, was a Jesper Sankell counter attack. Brilliant start for Växjö.
How did they do it?
