🔩| The Line That Can Create Offense Through Positions and Improvisation
Växjö put together a very dangerous line during the SSL season, consisting of Hugo Bertilsson, Niklas Hansson (Alex Strandberg at times), Hampus Öhgren, Samuel Folkesson-Algman and Heikki Iiskola.
It is a very versatile line, with huge offensive weapons in at least four of the five players. And solild enough in their own zone to not leak scoring chances the other way, even though they had weaker outings against the very best teams at times.
In today's Team Frankenstein post, I am looking deeper at how they play, and what makes them dangerous. And of course also at stuff where they hurt their own chances of being dominant, and what could be the next level for them going forward.
🔢 | Let us start by looking at some numbers
I tracked two of their SSL games from the end of the regular season in detail. One of them against a quality team in Linköping (third in the SSL), and one against a weaker team in Visby (avoided relegation).
And the numbers from these games actually are a good way of describing what this line is on the court. Have a look.

During five-on-five play, they where slightly minus against Linköping (5-5 in big scoring chances, but 2 of them being high danger for Linköping). Though it is not far away from being a draw.
And against Visby, they flat out dominated in a game that Växjö only won by a 6-5 margain in the end. They are up 10-1 in big scoring chances, and 5 of them are high danger chances. That is a massive advantage.
And from my viewings of them, I think that is more or less where they are at. They are good against really good teams, and dominant against weaker teams. For sure one of the better lines in the league, but not without flaws.
Let us look at some video, to dig up the tendencies of this line. They are a really interesting bunch of floorball players.
